 Nike Sportswear takes Nike Flyknit to New Heights

The Nike HTM Flyknit line blends the clean, modern style of the chukka boot with Nike Flyknit technology, creating an iconic new silhouette for the street. 

2013年のアーバンスニーカーランキングで、バスケットシューズ以外に評価が高かったのはナイキのフライニットシリーズくらいだが、その中で特にストリートスタイルスイーカーとしてデザインが評価されたのはNike HTM Flyknit Chukkaだった。

The knitted, form-fitting upper is enhanced by Nike Flywire technology for support, and a Nike Lunarlon outsole provides a smooth ride.

Flyknit Chukkaはナイキの最先端テクノロジーFlyknit、Flywire、Lunarlonを搭載したハイテクのストリートモデルとして開発された。したがってシルエットはランニングやバスケットスタイルではなく、チャッカブーツが選ばれた。2013年１月に発表され、２月に全世界発売されたモデルだが、１年後の今でも人気が高いヒットモデルになった。

The Nike HTM Flyknit Chukka will be available in two colorways, both drawing on a winter-inspired "Snow Style" palette. 

パフォーマンスタイプのランニングシューズが、アーバン消費者にアピールすることはまず期待できない。しかし2009年頃から、クラシックランニングモデルのアーバンスタイルアレンジがニューヨークやボストンで出回り始めた。代表的なアレンジャーはRonnie Fieg達だが、彼等でも、パフォーマンスタイプのハイテクランナーはアレンジ対象に取り上げなかった。

The Nike HTM Flyknit Chukka will be available starting in February at select retailers around the world including Nike Stadium Milan, Nike Stadium Paris and 1948 in London.

Flyknit Chukkaのシルエットはランニングではないが、コンポーネントとテクニカルシステムはハイテクランナーを踏襲している。つまりFlyknit Chukkaは最先端テクノロジーを搭載したクラシックランナーなのである。デザインは例の３人組（HTM）だから、ニューヨークのアレンジャーなどが考えるようなレベルを遥かに越えている。HTM３人組のデベロップメントが売れなかったらナイキとしてもメンツに関わる問題だが、やっぱりこの３人はやることが冴えている。

The Nike Free Flyknit unites two of Nike’s most innovative and popular technologies to deliver barefoot-like flexibility and a compression fit that locks the foot in place.

2013年に発表された多くのスニーカーランキングで、Nike Free FlyknitはTop 5の常連だった。Free Flyknitはフライニットアッパーとフリーソールを組み合わせた、ナイキのハイエンドのランニングシューズである。フライニットアッパーはアッパーを直接ニッティングして制作するので、コンポーネントと重量を同時に削減できる。その結果、コストダウンにもつながるのである。価格（MSRP）は160ドルで、2013年6月発表、８月1日に全世界発売された。

The Nike Free Flyknit is designed to flex with the foot in motion. It is informed by Nike’s "Nature Amplified" design ethos — an approach fueled by scientific data and athlete insights. 

Runnnig専門誌のランキングでもない限り、ほとんどのスニーカーランキング主催者はアーバンスタイルのスニーカーヘッズだから、上位ランクはどうしてもバスケットシューズが多くなる。そういうランキングで上位ランクインするためには、アーバンスタイルでもコーディネートできるスニーカーでなければならない。

The most hardcore of runners may not have embraced it, but for the more casual runner, or those simply looking for something different to wear casually, the Free Flyknit was an instant hit.

Free Flyknitはバスケットシューズ（アーバンスタイル）が幅を利かせるランキングでも、Top 5にコンスタントにランクインしてきた。もう一つのナイキ人気ハイエンドランナーFree Hyperfeel はTop 10にはランクインすることが多いが、Top 5にランクインする例はなかった。Free Flyknitはアーバン消費者の間でも人気が高いことを示している。

The Nike Free Hyperfeel is created to intuitively move with the foot. It is inspired by Nike’s "Nature Amplified" design ethos 

まもなく2013年が終わる。毎年この時期にはスニーカーの年間Top 10が発表される。そんなことを考えるマニア（Sneaker Headという）は、たいていアーバンスタイルの連中だからどうしてもバスケットシューズが多くなる。しかし2013年は、バスケットシューズ以外でTop 10の常連になったスニーカーが３モデルあった。そこで、この３モデルをシリーズでご紹介します。

Top 5にはランクインしなかったが、Top10にコンスタントにランクインしたのは「Nike Free Hyperfeel」である。2013年1月にオレゴン州ビーバートン本社で発表されたランニングシューズで、現在ナイキが市販している最高級パフォーマンスランナーの一つである。アッパーはFlyknitで、Flywireケーブルでサポート性能を補強している。アウトソールは耐久性の高いXDRラバーを成型したワッフルソールで、ルナロン素材インソールを搭載している。

Nike Free Hyperfeel is structured on a waffle outsole that is reengineered with strategically placed pistons, reflecting key pressure points. Highly durable XDR rubber is added in high-wear heel areas. 

Flyknitはコンプレッション効果でフィッティングを画期的に向上させたが、最大のアドバンテージは軽量化とコンポーネントの大幅な減少ももたらした。主力ランニングモデルの「Air Pegasus」は５７コンポーネントで構成されているが、Free Hyperfeelはわずか７コンポーネントに減少させることができた。ウエートも90％の減量を達成している。

Free Hyperfeelは小売価格（MSRP）175ドルで、９月から日本でも販売している。

Nike（本社：オレゴン州ビーバートン）は12月21日オープンしたDover Street Market New York（DSM-NYC）に「Air Python Capsule Collection」を供給した。同店には「Lunarterra Arktos」も供給している。ナイキが２つのカプセルコレクションをインディ系のストアのオープニングイベントに供給するのは破格の待遇である。

DSM-NYCは世界のKawakuboの直営ストアで、並のインディ系ストアとは格が違う。しかし今回はすこし優遇し過ぎではないでしょうか？

ナイキがDSM-NYCをこれだけ優遇したのは、DSMがアーバンスタイルのアイコンストアとしてプロモーション効果が高いと判断しているからである。アメリカで「アーバンスタイル」というのは、日本で使用する「ヒップホップ」とほぼ同義語であるが、実際のデザインやスタイルは日米では全く異なっている。

Nike（本社：オレゴン州ビーバートン）はマンハッタンに12月21日オープンしたDSM（Dover Street Market）New York店オープニングで２つのニューモデルを発売した。

そのうちの１つは「Lunarterra Arktos」で、「Nike Aeroloft 800 Summit Jacket」とカプセルコレクションで供給した。Lunarterra Arktosはナイキが保有する最先端テクノロジーを全て搭載したハイパフォーマンスブーツである。

Nike LunarTerra Arktos delivers a wholly invincible approach to winter. It provides the lightweight comfort of a sneaker and the durable, insulated protection of a boot. At the same time, its directional aesthetic sets it defiantly apart from its predecessors.

オリジナルモデルはACG系列にグルーピングされていたが、DSM供給モデルはトウガードとヒールサポートにダイヤモンドカットのプラスチックパーツを装着して、アーバンモデルにアレンジされている。ナイキも今回はユーティリティブーツと表現して、アフリカンアメリカン消費者購入を期待したのが明らかである。

同時発売のNike Aeroloft 800 Summit Jacketはチタン・ナノコーティングと800フィルパワーダウンを組み合わせたジャケットで、ソチ冬期オリンピックTeam USアワードジャケットと同モデルである。

DSMとナイキのコラボレーションはクリーンカットのサバーバンモデル中心で、本格的なアーバンモデルは今回が初めてである。マーレイヒルで、アーバンモデルのユーティティブーツやSupremeをこれ見よがしに販売するとは、川久保さとAdrian Joffeの度胸の良さに驚くほか無い。1983年の最初の時とは世の中変わったといえばそれまでだが・・・。
